Plan Information
About the Fund:
The Mid Central Operating Engineers Health and Welfare Fund was originally establisheed on July 6, 1954 as the International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 841 Health and Welfare Fund. On May 1, 2001, the Board of Trustees changed the name to Mid Central Operating Engineers Health and Welfare Fund to recognize all Local Unions represented by the Fund.
The Fund was established to provide medical, prescription drug, death benefit, accidental death and dismemberment benefit, and loss of time weekly benefit when you are disabled due to injury or illness.
The Fund is governed by the Taft-Hartley Act, as amended, and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, as amended ("ERISA"). ERISA generally preempts state law, which means the state-mandated benefit laws do not usually apply to the Fund.
The Trust is created for the benefit of Employees who work within the jurisdiction of Local Union 103, 318, 649, and 841 and qualify for benefits as established by The Board of Trustees.
The Fund is administered by eight (8) Board Members, who act as Union and Employer Trustees.
