1. When do I need to submit an application if I’m considering retiring?
A completed application must be received at least 60 days prior to your retirement date.
2. What documents will I need to provide before I retire?
Birth Certificates for you and your spouse
Marriage License – if applicable
Divorce Paperwork – if applicable
Qualified Domestic Relations Order(s) – if applicable
DD-214 – if applicable
Social Security Numbers of Children
3. Am I locked into the retirement date I indicate on my signed application?
No. As long as you have not started to collect your monthly pension benefits, you can change your date
4. When should I expect my first payment?
Pension benefits are paid out on the first business day of every month. However, if you are working right up to your retirement date, your initial benefit will be paid around the 20th of the month.
5. When should I setup an appointment to finalize my pension paperwork?
We recommend setting up your appointment to finalize your Local 25 Pension paperwork within the month prior to your retirement date. However, if you have also applied for your National Pension, we recommend scheduling your appointment after you receive you packet of information from NP. You can bring your packet with you to your appointment and we can help you complete your NP paperwork at the meeting.
6. What do I need to bring to my appointment?
If you are married, you and your spouse will need to attend the meeting. You will also need to bring a voided check.
