Messages from the Fund Manager - Fall 2010

Itís hard to believe that Fall is here. Things continue to be busy at the Fund Office. We hope that you find this website useful when obtaining your benefit information. We worked closely with our programmers in designing a site that would fit both our members and employers needs. Please feel free to e-mail me your thoughts or comments on our new site.

As we move into the last quarter of the year, the mailings from our office will begin to pick up again. In the upcoming months, you will receive the following:

  • Pension Fund Statement & Annual Funding Notice
  • Supplemental Fund Statement
  • Annuity Fund Statement
  • Open Enrollment Information (Locals 9, 33 & 440) - Welfare Fund Options Letter & Supplemental/Annuity Split Options Letter

Pension Fund Statement & Annual Funding Notice: It is important for you to review your pension fund statement. If there are any discrepancies, now is a good time to take care of them vs. when you retire. You will also receive an annual funding notice, which will provide important funding information about your pension plan.

Supplemental & Annuity Fund Statements: During the month of October or early November, you will receive your Supplemental and Annuity Statements. These statements will indicate the allocations/interest that has been applied to your accounts for the 2009-2010 fiscal year period.

Welfare Fund Options Letter: Late November or early December, you will receive your annual open enrollment information. The Welfare Fund Options Letter will let you know what type of coverage you currently have under the Welfare Fundóbasic, single or family. If you want to change your level of coverage, you will need to complete and return the Election Form to our office.

Supplemental/Annuity Fund Split Options Letter: You will also receive the Split Options Letter. This letter will provide the amounts that are currently being applied to your Supplemental and/or Annuity Funds. Please note that the contributions listed in this letter are in addition to the contributions that you are receiving under your Supplemental or Annuity Fund if you chose basic or single coverage under the Welfare Fund.

Review & Make Necessary Changes: It is important for you to review your current allocations (Welfare, Supplemental & Annuity Fund) and submit any changes to our office before January 1. This is the only time during the year that you can make changes. The only exception is when you have a status change/ life changing event (i.e. marriage, birth, death, divorce, dependent eligible for other coverage). You are allowed at that time to add or remove a dependent from your Plan. If you have any questions on the open enrollment information, please contact our office.
